Maths Morning with Year 2

On Thursday of last week, we took part in an awesome Maths Morning with Year 2. We worked in two groups, one with Miss Morris in Year 2 and another with myself in Year 5. In Year 5 were using nets to make an incredible pyramid... take a look at the photos below to see how we got along!

How many individual pyramids do you think we made?

Take a look at Year 2's blog to see the exciting activities Miss Morris set out for us.

World Kindness Day

Today is World Kindness Day! This morning, we had a discussion about the different ways that we can be kind to others and have set ourselves a target to do at least one Random Act of Kindness which we can share with the group.

Once we have achieved this and shared our Act of Kindness with the class, our Class Dojo characters will be freed from their jail and some might even be able to float up towards the hit air balloon!

I wonder who will finish the week at the top of our IIP display...

Remembrance Day Christmas Cards

After our very moving assembly with Mrs Longhawn for Remembrance Day, we decided to make Christmas Cards and gifts to send to serving members of the army. Some of us even included our blog address so you may even see some comments from the soldiers that received our cards on the blog!

Here are some examples of our work.

Sikhism

Our topic in RE this year is Sikhism. We are very lucky in class to have two Sikh classmates who were nice enough to share some of their wonderful food and culture with us.

Thank you Dil and Kieran!

Can anyone remember which items of clothing Dil and Kieran brought in?
Can you name any ceremonies they might wear these clothes for?

Black History Month

Following on from our fantastic assembly with Mrs. Cameron, we have been learning about the history of black peoples this month. Take a look at some of our wonderful African-inspired art below.

We also had a visitor from a guest who taught us a traditional rain song!

After this, we looked at the history of black peoples in America. To contribute to our show assembly, we made an art display using four key words to describe the history of black peoples in America as inspiration for our work; slavery, segregation, change and acceptance.

Can you see which pieces of art match our four key words?

The Forbidden Corner

Here are some photos from our fantastic day out at The Forbidden Corner... more to follow soon!

Look at these monster's escaping from their underground homes!

My group looking very dry at the start of the day...
... and a little less dry at the end!
Joe & Jay found an interesting spot to take in the sunlight!
