Maths in Year 5 by Josh, Callum & Morgan

This is what we have been doing this week in maths.

This is our Resource Base. There are five challenges and each one gets harder than the last. This helps us with our maths because we because we can choose where we are ready to start and we can mark our work ourselves.

Here are some of our challenges for this week.

And here are some examples of the challenges in our book.

Please leave comments on our blog if you liked our post!

Thank you,

Space!

Our new topic in Year 5 is Space!

Over the holidays I asked the class to explore space; take a look at some of our amazing work below...
Morgan made this outstanding orrery with her grandad!
Jessica made this wonderful model of our solar system.
Tullyanne made a great model of space exploration.
Michaela brought in this fantastic interactive planetarium.

And here are some of our wonderful Learning Logs.

In art this week, we have been making observational artwork of the planets.  I chose some of our best work to make this display!

A great start to the term Year 5, well done! Have a great weekend!

Maths Morning with Year 2

On Thursday of last week, we took part in an awesome Maths Morning with Year 2. We worked in two groups, one with Miss Morris in Year 2 and another with myself in Year 5. In Year 5 were using nets to make an incredible pyramid... take a look at the photos below to see how we got along!

How many individual pyramids do you think we made?

Take a look at Year 2's blog to see the exciting activities Miss Morris set out for us.

World Kindness Day

Today is World Kindness Day! This morning, we had a discussion about the different ways that we can be kind to others and have set ourselves a target to do at least one Random Act of Kindness which we can share with the group.

Once we have achieved this and shared our Act of Kindness with the class, our Class Dojo characters will be freed from their jail and some might even be able to float up towards the hit air balloon!

I wonder who will finish the week at the top of our IIP display...

Remembrance Day Christmas Cards

After our very moving assembly with Mrs Longhawn for Remembrance Day, we decided to make Christmas Cards and gifts to send to serving members of the army. Some of us even included our blog address so you may even see some comments from the soldiers that received our cards on the blog!

Here are some examples of our work.
